Cruel is a world that paved all this distance
This is a jail, these memories my penance
Holding hands right where we stood
Love painted in naivety, never misunderstood

But now those eyes haunt with the unknown
This phantom of our past makes it all forlorn
You boarded a ship into a brand new sea
While time and tide stayed still for me

My fairytale friendship soon collapsed
Pomp and fest, I see through tinted glass
Was the stitch of our bond, fated to unravel
Was I a liability you only ever battled?

Are we just waves that come and go
Scarred by cliffside rocks that hurt me so
Or is there a cave behind our waterfall
With meaning we didn’t understand, but now recall
