13/MOON

Your eyes are paintings
Folktales of grace and storms
Your voice rides the space between us
With all the agony of passion’s grasp

My mind lingers on all your brilliance
My fists break down among all this calm
For I’m that hanging orb in the sky
All I want is for you to feel warm

Our fleeting moments make me wonder
Can love ever be like friendship
Yearning for your tide to pull me in
An orbit so ethereal

I wait for a call, a signal, a sign
It feels like you’re the key
To a lock letting out an amber-gold brook
Drenching us both in all that’s pure

Will your moon ever shine on me
Your beckoning calls and delicate smile
Are always just a step away
From my home perched in the shadows

Will you confide your life in my open palm
Will you shout across hills for my help
Or will you always just be a step away
From my home perched in the shadows

These gliding clouds point me in your direction
But as night falls the sky is hollow
Stars taunt all I have to give
Can I trust that this isn’t unrequited
